Caries is a widespread disease which 90% of people in the world suffer from.
This is often not due to the lack of oral and dental care, the causes are mostly elsewhere. The bad thing about Caries is, people that are affected, often suffer severely. They are accused of poor oral hygiene, although this may not be the real reason.
People with advanced carious teeth often lose the desire to smile because they are afraid that other people would see this and refer to them as unhygienic.
But that doesn’t have to be the case, because there is a solution, and this is even evidenced by several studies.
The trick here is, it is painless, looks and tastes good.
But before we present you the solution, we want to handle this theme a little further.
What is Caries?
Caries (more precisely “dental caries”) finds its origin in the Latin “Caries”, which stands for “Rottenness” and carries the technical term “dentium Caries”.
Dental caries is a disease of the hard tissue of the teeth, the enamel and dentin. This disease is caused by micro-organisms.
What causes Caries?
The development of caries can have various causes.
To explain the development of caries is not so easy, because there are a wide range of studies to do so and extensive medical knowledge is required to understand the interrelationships.
However, we would like to try it in simple terms.
A caries disease is possible when cooperating four main factors:
- Susceptibility to disease of the tooth
- Plaque with cariogenic bacteria
- Low-molecular carbohydrates (especially sugar and sugared dishes included)
- sufficient time
Apart from these four main factors, there are also several secondary factors that lead to caries, these include:
- The position of the teeth
- Tooth deformity
- Saliva composition
- genetic factors
- Composition of food
Dental caries is a disease of the teeth, due to the metabolism of bacteria. Bacteria accumulate in various ways in the human mouth. Often, this can happen either by eating or by drinking but also in children through the classic “fingers in the mouth”.
In the oral cavity, these bacteria now unite to together and form networks. A sticky substance that is known as plaque is initially formed, which is then deposited on the teeth as dental plaque is developed from these networks.
If this resulting dental plaque, also called plaque or biofilm, is not regularly and completely removed by brushing and flossing your teeth, bacteria can multiply very quickly.
Bacteria obtain their energy from the various types of sugar contained in various food and sweet drinks.
The bacteria first converts the sugar into acid. This resulting acids mainly lactic acid, now attack the tooth enamel, the tooth enamel is then decalcified.
As a result, the enamel becomes porous and the bacteria penetrate into the Interior of the tooth and destroy it from the inside out.

In humans, where the natural pH level is lower, the acid attack has a greater effect on the enamel. That it has no influence.

- The third group, which used the normal sugar, had well over 7 carious teeth more than at the start of the trial.
- The fructose team, group one, was full of pride, because participants in the cut to show had only 4 carious teeth.
- The xylitol group, group two, but enthusiastic with 0 – correct “zero” new carious teeth.

Im Rahmen dieser weiteren Studie wurde offenbart, das Xylit nicht gegessen werden muss, Xylit muss lediglich die Zähne und den Mundraum benetzen um die Wirkung zu erzielen.
